The Computer Integrated Manufacturing Research Unit (CIMRU) is located within the Manufacturing Research Centre at the National University of Ireland, Galway ( NUI Galway).
The objective of CIMRU is to create new knowledge in the area of manufacturing business environments from design to manufacturing and on to the end of life of products. CIMRU addresses problems across the extended supply chain of product manufacturing including Innovation Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, End of Life Recovery and Business Process Modelling.

Since its establishment in 1983, it has published over 300 scientific papers including 12 books and has over 200 alumni. CIMRU currently has ten researchers and an annual turnover of €0.5m. CIMRU is affiliated to DERI through a number of research projects including the development of semantic ambient intelligence for the manufacturing shop floor.
